Days & Hours
Full-day camps run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday through Friday during summer, fall, winter, and spring break.
Early Drop Off / Late Pick Up
Parents, please be considerate and do not drop off your child early or pick them up late. Our studio hours do not allow us extra time between classes. We teach classes, special classes, private lessons, and sewing camps back-to-back, and we do not have a waiting room. Please try to drop off and pick up within 5 minutes of camp time. If you need to drop off early or pick up late, you must SCHEDULE IN ADVANCE for extended camp hours.
Extended Hours Camp Fees:
Early Drop Off (8:45 am or 12.45 pm) – $30.00 per student per week or $10.00 per day
Early Drop Off (8:30 am or 12.30 pm) – $75.00 per student per week or $20.00 per day
Camp Fee
Fall camp runs Monday – Friday.
Students are allowed to bring snacks and water.
Unless otherwise noted, each camp type shown above is offered weekly during the summer. Camps are run simultaneously, so one student may be making a quilt, another a skirt, and another a stuffed animal during the same week of camp. In our 8 years of running sewing camps, we have found that this method works best. Each student’s project inspires and encourages the students seeing the process in that same camp.
Camp Registration
Every year since we began in 2013, every week of camp has sold out. This is in red and bold for a reason: Please register early to avoid being on a waitlist. Email FIRST to hold your child’s place for camp. By doing so, you are verifying that room is still available.
Payment
You may pay by cash, check, or VENMO. We do not take credit cards. Please make checks payable to the School of Couture. Please be advised we have a strict NO REFUND policy. More information can be found in our Agreement.
Wait List
If there is a week of camp you’d like your child to attend and it is full, please let us know, and we will put your child on a waitlist. Even though it is rare that we get cancellations, we do get students who need to change their week of camp from time to time. We know that the uncertainty of the waitlist is inconvenient, so we do our best to communicate with you through email updates.
PAYMENT INFORMATION:
REFUND & CAMP EXCHANGE POLICY:
We have a strict NO-REFUND policy. Please keep in mind that we have hired a certain number of instructors to cover a certain number of students who have signed up for that particular week. Holding a spot in a camp and needing to change it close to the camp date takes spaces away from other eager students and costs both the teacher, the extra instructors hired for the camp, and the Studio.
Not a Child or Dependent Expense -School of Couture tuition does not qualify as a child care or dependent care expense. Therefore, parents should not attempt to claim it as a tax credit or for reimbursement via a flexible spending account. Instructors are not required to provide their social security numbers or employer identification numbers for this purpose.
Yes! Many students attend for several weeks. We adjust projects and difficulty so they keep learning new skills and don’t just repeat the same work.
Yes, you can combine the morning and afternoon sessions. Please send lunch and a snack.
Yes. We work with mixed ages 6–15 and group by skill level. They’ll be in the same classroom but may work on slightly different projects; it will depend on their levels.
AM and PM follow the same weekly theme, but we adjust projects, details and difficulty depending on the group and on returning students. Full-day students continue and add more advanced details.
Our program is designed for kids and teens ages 6–15.
Some projects may be adjusted based on age and experience so every student feels successful.
Beginners start in Level 1 – Sewing Foundations.
We focus on safety, getting comfortable with the sewing machine, and simple, fun projects like a tote bag, headband, stuffed animal, and basic knitting/embroidery machine foundations.
Level 1 – Perfect for kids who are new to sewing.
Level 2 – For students who already know the basics, can sew simple projects, or have completed Level 1 / one of our camps.
Level 3 – For experienced young designers who have completed Level 2 and are ready for more advanced garments like bomber jackets, corsets, gowns, and pants.
If you’re not sure, we’re happy to recommend a level based on your child’s experience.
Level 1: Safety, sewing machine basics, straight stitching, simple projects, introduction to embroidery and knitting machines.
Level 2: Reading patterns, choosing sizes, grainline, seam allowance, PJ set, summer dress, bucket hat, designed skirt, stuffed animal.
Level 3: Advanced construction, linings, zippers, darts, corsets, bomber jacket, evening gown, pants, jersey dress, embroidery details, plus overlock (serger) and coverstitch machines.
No. We provide sewing machines, tools, fabrics (for main projects), and basic supplies.
If your child has a favorite fabric or wants something special, they are welcome to bring it—just let us know in advance.
Level 1: About 2–3 weeks (depending on schedule and pace).
Level 2: About 5–7 weeks.
Level 3: About 6–10 weeks because of more complex garments.
Each child works at their own speed, and we support them individually.
We understand that things happen.
Depending on our schedule and availability, we usually help students catch up during the next class so they can still finish their projects.
Absolutely!
We keep our groups small so every child gets individual attention and help with sewing, pattern reading, and design.
For Level 1, no experience is needed at all.
For Levels 2 and 3, some sewing experience is required, but we teach fashion basics along the way—design choices, color, fabric selection, and styling.
Our program is built like a mini fashion school for kids:
Clear levels and progression
Real garment construction, not just crafts
Introduction to professional tools (embroidery machine, knitting machine, overlock, coverstitch)
Focus on confidence, creativity, and problem-solving, not just “following instructions.”
